Description

We seek a passionate innovator with product development experience from inception to delivery. The Firmware Engineer will be responsible for firmware and sensing-related tasks, including architecting, designing, developing, and maintaining hardware and firmware for Apple’s home and audio products. The role also involves sensor integration and ensuring high-quality execution to launch innovative product features.

Minimum Qualifications

• M.S. in EE, CE, CS, or equivalent industry experience
• 8+ years of firmware and device driver development in bare-metal or RTOS environments, preferably in consumer electronics
• 5+ years of sensing system hardware engineering experience (optical, IMU, capacitive, environmental, light, motion, radar, acoustic, etc.)
• Proven leadership experience with decision-making and team management skills
• Strong coding skills in C, C++, Python
• Ability to optimize software for resource-constrained embedded systems (power, throughput, memory/compute)
• Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping, hardware bring-up, and software feature development
• Willingness to learn how to quantify and test new technologies
• Availability for domestic and international travel for development and manufacturing support

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with calibration and factory system builds
• Excellent interpersonal skills for cross-organizational collaboration and negotiation
• Passionate, inquisitive, and innovative problem-solver

At Apple, base pay ranges from $175,800 to $312,200, depending on skills, experience, and location.
