Job summary

PAE is seeking a Lead Fire Protection Engineer to oversee the design, coordination, and delivery of fire protection systems for diverse buildings. You will manage project teams, mentor staff, and ensure high-quality calculations, drawings, and specifications while applying NFPA and building codes.

You may work remotely or from one of our national offices, with responsibilities including client coordination, site visits, and development of master specifications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of related work experience.
  • Licensed PE or CPD preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA and building codes.
  • Proficient in Revit/AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project teams and discipline management on time within budget.
  • Prepare deliverables: narratives, calculations, drawings, specifications.
  • Attend client meetings and coordinate internal/external project teams.
  • Evaluate engineering concepts and apply procedures from concepts to construction.

The OpportunityWe’re seeking a Lead Fire Protection Engineer to work remotely, or in one of our national offices, to oversee the design, coordination, and delivery of fire protection systems for a variety of building types. In this role, you’ll manage project teams, lead client coordination, and produce high‑quality engineering deliverables including calculations, drawings, and specifications. You’ll apply advanced knowledge of NFPA and building codes, oversee system design and equipment selection, and perform site visits throughout the project lifecycle. This position also provides leadership through mentoring staff, improving internal standards, and supporting client relationships.
