Job summary

The City of Delray Beach is hiring a Fire Inspector Supervisor to lead the Fire Inspection team. You will oversee field inspections, plan reviews, and enforcement of fire prevention codes, ensuring compliance with Florida Fire Prevention Code and NFPA standards.

The role requires an Associate’s degree, five years of related experience with two years in a supervisory capacity, and relevant certifications such as Fire Safety Inspector I. A Florida DL and CPR are preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Five years of progressively responsible fire inspection, plan review, or code enforcement experience; two years in a supervisory or lead role.
• Training in fire inspections and code enforcement, or an equivalent combination of education and training.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, schedules, and reviews the work of Fire Inspectors; provides mentorship and technical guidance.
• Performs field inspections of buildings during construction to ensure compliance with approved plans.
• Conducts plan reviews and recommends corrective actions based on findings.
• Leads complex inspections including post-fire evaluations and hazardous occupancies.
• Enforces fire prevention codes and ordinances firmly and impartially.
• Reports and maintains records and case management per departmental standards.
• Coordinates with engineers, architects, and contractors on fire safety compliance.
