Job summary

Total Fire Protection in the Greater Philadelphia area seeks a lead technician who can troubleshoot complex fire alarm systems, run projects, and collaborate with customers and AHJs. You will install, program, commission, test and troubleshoot commercial systems, read drawings, and coordinate with electricians and other trades.

NFPA 72 knowledge is required; NICET certification is preferred. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial fire alarm experience
• Strong installation, service and troubleshooting ability
• Fire alarm programming and commissioning experience
• Strong understanding of NFPA 72 and applicable fire alarm codes
• Ability to read construction drawings and wiring diagrams
• Experience working independently and leading other technicians
• Professional customer and AHJ communication skills
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• NICET Level II or higher is strongly preferred
• NICET Level III is a major plus

Responsibilities

• Run fire alarm projects from startup through acceptance testing
• Read and interpret drawings, specifications and sequence-of-operations documents
• Troubleshoot SLC, NAC, power, communication and ground-fault conditions
• Program and commission fire alarm systems
• Coordinate work with electricians, sprinkler technicians, GCs and other trades
• Conduct acceptance testing with AHJs
• Document field conditions and deficiencies
• Train and mentor developing technicians
• Help establish field standards and best practices
