Zing Recruiting is seeking an experienced Lead Fire Alarm Technician to join a growing fire protection team serving commercial customers throughout the Norfolk area.

This role involves testing, inspecting, repairing, and maintaining fire alarm systems, diagnosing malfunctions, and communicating findings to customers. On-call rotation and strong documentation are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on fire alarm experience.
• Experience servicing commercial fire alarm systems.
• Knowledge of Simplex, Notifier and Fire-Lite systems.
• NICET certification preferred.
• Valid driver's license with few points and 3+ years of licensed driving experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing, inspection, maintenance, and repair of commercial fire alarm systems.
• Diagnose system malfunctions and complete repairs to maintain code compliance.
• Conduct inspections in accordance with NFPA standards and local codes.
• Troubleshoot and service fire alarm equipment.
• Complete detailed inspection reports and service documentation.
• Communicate findings and repair recommendations to customers.
• Participate in an on-call rotation schedule.

Compensation

• $30.00 - $45.00 per hour based on experience
• $3,000 Sign-On Bonus
• Additional bonus opportunities for NICET certifications
• Quarterly Performance Bonuses
• Annual Performance Bonuses
• Time‑and‑a‑half pay for all hours worked between 6:00 PM and 5:00 AM
• Paid 4‑hour minimum at time‑and‑a‑half for emergency service calls
• Paid 4‑hour minimum at double‑time for emergency service calls on recognized holidays
• 8 hours of holiday pay in addition to emergency call compensation

What You'll Be Doing

• Perform testing, inspection, maintenance, and repair of commercial fire alarm systems
• Diagnose system malfunctions and complete repairs to maintain code compliance
• Conduct inspections in accordance with NFPA standards and local codes
• Troubleshoot and service fire alarm equipment
• Complete detailed inspection reports and service documentation
• Communicate findings and repair recommendations to customers
• Participate in an on‑call rotation schedule

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 2 years of hands‑on fire alarm experience
• Experience servicing commercial fire alarm systems
• Functional knowledge of Simplex, Notifier, and Fire‑Lite systems
• NICET certification preferred
• Special hazards experience including FM‑200 or Halon systems is a plus
• Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills preferred
• Valid driver's license with 3 or fewer points
• Minimum 3 years of licensed driving experience
• Ability to work on ladders ranging from 6 to 12 feet and operate lifts
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds
• Comfortable working overhead, in attics, crawl spaces, and confined areas
• Strong customer service, communication, and documentation skills
• Organized and capable of managing service tickets and required paperwork
