Job Description:

  • The Financial Reporting Analyst prepares drafts of annual, semi-annual and quarterly financial statements and Forms (N-SAR, N-Q, F-24, F-2, and N-CSR) for registered investment companies.
  • The position provides support to senior team members and managers in connection with fund expenses and general fund financial information, and completes various projects as assigned by the Financial Administration Manager.
  • For European offices, the Financial Reporting Analyst may assist in reviewing the work of junior staff and in developing the Financial Administration Group.
  • Drafts annual, semi-annual, and quarterly financial statements and Forms N-SAR, N-Q, F-24, F-2, and N-CSR, along with timetable calendars for these statements.
  • Prepares fund expense proformas.
  • Reviews fund expenses and accruals; coordinates accrual adjustments with clients and the financial reporting team.
  • Prepares fund expense invoices for approval and review.
  • Works with the Fund Administration Manager on board book and procedures manual preparations.
  • Reports and communicates performance data to fund management and industry publications.
  • Develops and maintains familiarity with applicable laws, regulations, and interpretations governing financial statements and disclosures, including the Investment Company Act of 1940, the Internal Revenue Code, GAAP, Regulation S-X, and others.
  • Maintains awareness of regulatory changes affecting funds.
  • Communicates appropriately with the Financial Reporting Team Leader regarding all timetables and workflow, and with other department members as needed.
  • Performs special projects as directed by the Team Leader.
  • Assists in reviewing work completed by junior staff members.
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of EDGAR and Merrill Reports.
  • Evaluates and suggests enhancements to Eagle/OMEGA (client's Fund Accounting system) and Merrill Reports to automate procedures for financial reporting and compliance.
  • Communicates with the Financial Reporting Supervisor regarding workflow and timetables.
  • Performs special projects as directed by the Fund Reporting Supervisor.
  • Assists in internal policy, procedure, and system reviews as required.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree and/or equivalent work experience; a business-related concentration is preferable.
  • 5 to 7 years of mutual fund accounting or related experience, including 3 to 5 years of financial reporting experience.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and ability to recommend solutions.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness and ability to work in a deadline-driven, client-focused environment.
