The Opportunity

The purpose of this role is to support the implementation of specific business strategies by contributing to business development and growth through cultivating relationships with designated clients and making informed underwriting decisions to enhance the profitability of the portfolio. Key responsibilities involve generating new business, retaining renewals, and ensuring the overall profitability of a specific designated book of business within our Specialty insurance vertical.

Responsibilities
  • Underwrite business following the business plan and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the development and delivery of the annual business plan.
  • Apply a Reinsurance Strategy to safeguard the portfolio.
  • Contribute to meetings to share knowledge and best practices.
  • Promote the department, division, and company to maximise brand leverage.
  • Establish and strengthen relationships with stakeholders.
  • Continuously develop technical knowledge and expertise.
  • Manage resources across the team to meet business requirements.
  • Motivate and develop the team through effective leadership behaviors.
  • Ensure accurate recording of insurance risks and compliance with regulations.
Work Experience

Preferred work experience includes:

  • Prior underwriting experience in Financial Lines (minimum 3 years preferred).
Qualifications

Necessary qualifications include:

  • Ability to analyze financial statements.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess complex risks and make underwriting decisions.
  • Excellent communication, networking, and relationship-building skills.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Customer and sales-oriented behaviors.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for business purposes, including overseas visits.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent formal education qualifications.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English is required; Portuguese is a plus.
  • Knowledge of insurance industry regulations, market trends, and emerging risks.

Compensation

Base salary varies based on education, experience, skills, location, and business needs:

  • Range for many locations: $120,000 - $180,000
  • Specific ranges for certain states/cities are provided, e.g., CA: $150,000 - $225,000; NJ and NYC: $150,000 - $225,000.
