Job summary

Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) in Indianapolis seeks a supervisory professional to manage performance, mentor staff, and lead process-improvement efforts in finance operations. You will build relationships with internal and external partners, guide teams, and ensure timely completion of work in a federal environment.

The role requires specialized experience at GS-12 level, with responsibilities spanning financial management analysis, policy interpretation, and customer guidance.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-11) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate the work of subordinates, develop performance standards, and provide advice and instruction to employees on work and administrative matters of work-related assignments.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners to gather information, complete tasks, and respond to service members promptly.
• Lead and facilitate process improvement projects to streamline workflows, enhance efficiency, and improve the quality of work products. This includes identifying areas for improvement, developing implementation plans, and monitoring results.
• Plan and assign work to be accomplished based on priorities, consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and employees’ capabilities, including setting/adjusting short-term priorities and schedules for completion of work.
• Identify training and developmental needs of employees, provide or arrange for needed development and training.
