Job Summary:

We are seeking a sharp, intellectually curious Finance & Strategy Lead to join our GTM Finance & Strategy team at OpenGov. This is a fast paced, high impact role that will directly shape decisions that drive OpenGov’s growth, connecting operations and strategy to enterprise financial outcomes.

You’ll own a critical pillar of our go-to-market business: building the analytical infrastructure, shaping the narrative, and advising GTM leadership on the decisions that matter most. The right person thrives in ambiguity, has the horsepower to structure messy problems fast, and communicates with the clarity and confidence to influence senior stakeholders. This position is in-office at our San Francisco HQ, and reports directly to the Director, GTM Finance & Strategy and will have direct exposure to the CFO and GTM leadership.

Responsibilities:
  • Own the financial strategy and performance narrative for a key GTM business segment - topline forecasting, unit economics, and budget vs. actual analysis. Tie operational drivers to enterprise-wide financial targets

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to GTM leadership: synthesize complex data into clear, actionable recommendations and help leaders make better decisions faster

  • Build and maintain financial models, reporting infrastructure, and forecasting frameworks from the ground up

  • Drive monthly and quarterly business reviews: identify risks and opportunities, develop the executive narrative, and hold the business accountable to its commitments

  • Translate ambiguity into structure - take a business question with no obvious answer and return with a point of view, a framework, and a recommendation

  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Professional Services, RevOps, Customer Success, and the CFO's office on strategic initiatives and planning cycles

  • Contribute to high-impact ad-hoc projects: long range planning, go-to-market strategy, capacity analysis, variable compensation design, and other work that shapes how OpenGov grows

  • Help define and scale Finance & Strategy team processes and analytical standards

Requirements and Preferred Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field

  • 5+ years of experience in FP&A, investment banking, management consulting, or a high-growth SaaS environment

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven ability to work through ambiguity and deliver structured, well-reasoned analysis under time pressure

  • Strong financial modeling skills; you build models from first principles

  • Actively experiments with AI tools to simplify and scale your work - you build workflows, not workarounds, and you think in systems rather than one-offs

  • Experience partnering directly with senior business leaders

  • Low ego, high output - you care about the work, not the credit

Compensation:
San Francisco, CA: $150,000 - $165,000

On target ranges above include base plus a portion of variable compensation that is earned based on company and individual performance.

The final compensation will be determined by a number of factors such as qualifications, expertise, and the candidate's geographical location.
