Job summary

Smart Tech Contracting seeks a Lead Field Technician – Critical Infrastructure to lead field execution on hyperscale data center projects. You will coordinate trades, direct field crews, and ensure safety, quality, and on-time performance under the Site Superintendent’s guidance.

The role requires strong technical judgment, ability to resolve issues in real time, and up-to-date knowledge of construction safety standards. Travel and relocation may be required to project sites nationwide.

Qualifications

• 6–8 years of field execution experience in mission-critical construction environments.
• Direct field crews and coordinate subcontractors across trades.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, safety practices, and quality control.
• Experience working under a Site Superintendent on large-scale projects.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specs, submittals, and schedules.
• Working knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70E, and high-risk activities.
• Excellent cross-trade coordination and escalation abilities.
• Proficiency with field tools/platforms such as Procore, BIM 360, Autodesk Build.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day field execution for assigned scopes, zones, or workstreams.
• Direct STC field labor and coordinate subcontractors and trade partners.
• Coordinate daily activities across electrical, mechanical, automation, controls, networking, and commissioning.
• Participate in daily coordination meetings, site walks, and trade alignment discussions.
• Resolve routine field conflicts; escalate complex issues to the Site Superintendent.
• Develop and maintain 2–3 week look-ahead schedules; track progress and productivity.
• Enforce QA/QC requirements and verify work complies with plans and specs.
• Lead safety practices: toolbox talks, pre-task plans, and risk controls.
• Provide clear daily updates to the Site Superintendent and document field reports.
• Complete tasks on time and on budget; perform other duties as assigned.
