Job summary

MasTec Civil is seeking a Survey Party Chief in Columbia, SC to lead the field survey crew and ensure accuracy and efficiency of work. You will oversee survey tasks, enforce procedures, and collaborate with utilities to coordinate public-street surveys.

The role requires a strong background in field surveying, GPS data collection, and supervisory capabilities, with a focus on delivering precise maps and timely results.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in surveying or Civil Technology with 4+ years of field experience or 6 years of surveying experience.
• Proven supervisory and organizational abilities.
• Strong understanding of field surveying procedures and techniques.
• Ability to perform all aspects of field surveys and verify calculations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee development and execution of field survey duties (right-of-way, topographic, etc.).
• Choose surveying techniques appropriate for each project.
• Collaborate with utility companies to coordinate surveys for streets and easements.
• Gather survey data using GPS and other tools to map areas and measure angles/distances/elevations.
• Analyze plans and documents to plan and schedule work.
• Define property boundaries and right-of-way lines.
• Draft reports and descriptions for surveys performed.
• Ensure final maps are accurate and complete; supervise crew performance.
