Job summary

CPH in Columbia, SC is seeking a Survey Crew Chief to oversee survey operations, ensure data accuracy, and coordinate with project managers and engineers. You will lead field surveys using advanced Topcon equipment and software, and ensure data is collected and documented to high standards.

A high school diploma is required; relevant surveying certification is a plus. The role requires travel up to two weeks at a time and occasional night shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification or technical training in surveying technology and equipment is a plus.
• Proficiency with TOPCON Magnet software and survey equipment.
• Strong data handling, file management, and computer skills.
• Excellent field surveying, data collection, and calculation abilities.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Excellent oral, written, and organizational skills.
• Flexible schedule, including night shifts and travel for up to two weeks.

Responsibilities

• Oversee survey operations and ensure accurate data collection.
• Gather field data using conventional, robotic, and GPS methods with TOPCON equipment.
• Set up, adjust, and operate surveying instruments; maintain/calibrate equipment.
• Use TOPCON Magnet software for data collection and processing.
• Prepare field notes, sketches, and calculations; ensure geometric accuracy.
• Perform field surveying for roads, bridges, and flood control projects.
• Communicate with team members and transfer files via email/Dropbox/OneDrive.
• Be willing to travel up to two weeks and work occasional third shifts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
