Job summary

Stantec is seeking an Archaeology Field Lead in the Texas/Oklahoma/Louisiana region to direct field activities and oversee crews during surveys, testing, and excavations. The role requires outdoor work in remote sites, strong safety focus, and ability to operate with limited supervision.

The position emphasizes leadership, data collection, and coordination with stakeholders, with 80% time in the field and a full-time benefits package.

Experience with GPS, ArcGIS Online and Survey123 is a plus.
Experience recording field data on tablets is preferred.
Must be able to work outdoors in varied weather and terrains.
Able to lift and carry equipment up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

Oversee and lead archaeological crews during surveys, testing, and excavation projects.
Utilize field methodologies including survey, testing, excavation, surface collection, and monitoring.
Record, analyze, and interpret archaeological data in the field.
Record soils using color, texture, and inclusions; navigate with maps, GPS, and aerial imagery.
Assist with setting up site grid, datum, excavations units, and site plan mapping.
Identify artifacts and cultural features.
Prepare sites for mapping and photography; assist with lab reporting.
