Job summary

GAC Enterprises, LLC in Gatesville, TX is seeking a skilled Fiber Splicer to join our telecom construction team. You will splice and terminate fiber cables, maintain splice records, troubleshoot network issues, and perform comprehensive testing using OTDRs, power meters, and fusion splicers.

Responsibilities include safety compliance, equipment maintenance, mentoring junior staff, and availability for on-call maintenance travel to various sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of experience in fiber optic splicing and network maintenance.
• Experience using equipment such as fusion splicers, OTDRs, and power meters.
• Splicing certified.
• Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
• Travel to different job locations.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work overtime and travel if needed.

Responsibilities

• Splice and terminate fiber optic cables according to industry standards.
• Complete and maintain accurate splice records, as-built maps, and other related documentation.
• Troubleshoot problems with fiber networks and find effective solutions.
• Perform fiber optic testing using equipment such as OTDR, power meters, and fusion splicers.
• Ensure all work is completed within safety guidelines and company standards.
• Maintain and care for all assigned equipment.
• Train, mentor, and provide leadership to employees of an assigned area, or project.
• Be available for on call dispatching for maintenance work.
• Other duties as assigned by leadership.
