Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory seeks a Lead Facility Engineer to lead broad engineering activities for assigned facilities, reporting to the Manager of Lead Facility Engineering. The role requires coordinating with engineering, facility management, operations, and programmatic personnel.

Responsibilities include configuring facility systems, specifying maintenance, monitoring performance, and developing facility strategy while supporting the Facility Health Committee and providing engineering

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required as baseline.
• Experience with DOE/Nuclear facilities is highly valued.
• Licensure as Professional Engineer is desirable but not required.

Job description

The Lead Facility Engineer is responsible for a broad spectrum of engineering activities related to their assigned facilities. You will report to the Manager of Lead Facility Engineering Department.

Responsibilities Include:

The Lead Facility Engineer applies knowledge, practices, technique and experience in a leadership role working with engineering, facility management, operations, maintenance, and programmatic personnel for the following:

• Manage facility system configurations
• Specification of system equipment maintenance
• Monitor equipment and systems performance
• Develop engineering strategy for the facility
• Identify and prioritize issues for the Facility Health Committee (FHC)
• Failure analysis
• Modification Design
• Operations Support
• Engineering Leadership

Required:

• Level 4: Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program and 9 years' experience, or a Master’s in an engineering discipline and 6 years' experience, or a PhD in an engineering discipline and 4 years' experience.
• Level 5: Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program and 14 years of experience. Master's and 8 years' experience. PhD and 6 years of experience.
• Must be able to obtain MFC Lead Facility Engineer Qualification.
• This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
  

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Professional Engineering license is desirable but not required
• Knowledge of configuration management processes
• Experience working in the DOE complex and/or Nuclear Facilities
  

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, and work in an office and field/laboratory environment. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to keyboard or type, handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms. The job requires operation of job-related equipment and driving a vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds without assistance. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with the public is required. Job Information:

Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our MFC facility with every Friday off.

• The pay range for this position is: Level 4 ($114,360 - $234,336)/Level 5 ($137,076 - $281,196). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
• TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.

• Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
