Job summary

Bella Beverage Catering & Events in San Diego, CA is seeking a Lead Event Bartender for part-time, event-based work. You’ll own the bar, deliver polished service, and lead a small team during fast-paced events across Southern California.

Requirements include 2+ years bartending/hospitality, 21+, San Diego RBS and Food Handler certifications, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Biweekly pay and training provided.

About the Role

At Bella Beverage Catering & Events, we believe great hospitality is about creating an experience guests remember.

We are a San Diego-based mobile hospitality business specializing in elevated bar and beverage experiences for corporate events, conferences, brand activations, weddings, and private celebrations throughout Southern California.

This is a hands‑on role for bartenders who are comfortable taking ownership of their bar, supporting the team around them, and delivering polished service in fast‑paced and constantly changing event environments. Our Lead Bartenders work closely with Event Coordinators and fellow team members to help ensure every bar is organized, guest‑ready, and executed to Bella standards from setup through breakdown.

What You’ll Do

Bar & Beverage Service

• Prepare and serve beverages efficiently, accurately, and professionally
• Maintain consistent presentation, pour standards, and service throughout the event
• Maintain knowledge of event menus, service timelines, and client priorities
• Monitor beverage, ice, garnish, and supply levels throughout service
• Maintain a clean, organized, attractive, and fully stocked bar

Event Setup & Execution

• Arrive prepared, on time, and in proper Bella uniform
• Set up bar stations, equipment, product, tools, and service materials
• Coordinate with the Event Coordinator to ensure smooth and efficient service
• Adapt quickly to changes in guest volume, event timing, and service needs
• Take initiative and help solve problems as they arise during an event

Lead & Support the Team

• Help set the pace and standard for all team members and support staff working your station
• Support, guide, and communicate with fellow team members
• Maintain Bella’s standards for professionalism, hospitality, organization, and presentation
• Step in wherever needed to support successful event execution

Breakdown & Closing

• Break down and organize bar stations at the conclusion of service
• Properly pack beverage product, equipment, tools, and supplies
• Assist with inventory and communicate product or equipment concerns to the Event Coordinator and Bella Beverage Catering Manager as needed
• Help restore event spaces to venue and client standards

What We’re Looking For

• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Minimum 2 years of bartending and hospitality experience
• Event, catering, hotel, restaurant, or high-volume bar experience strongly preferred
• Working knowledge of cocktails, spirits, beer, wine, and non‑alcoholic beverage service
• Strong communication skills and professional presentation
• Dependable, detail‑oriented, organized, and team-focused
• Comfortable taking initiative and leading within an assigned bar station
• Ability to follow recipes, event instructions, and service standards
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods
• Legally authorized to work in the United States

Required Certifications

The following must be current prior to working an event:

• San Diego Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification
• San Diego County Food Handler Card

Additional event-specific training or certifications may be required.

Schedule & Availability

This is a part-time, event-based position with shifts scheduled according to Bella’s event calendar.

Evening, weekend, and holiday availability is required. Shift length and location will vary depending on the event, and additional hours or overtime opportunities may be available during busy seasons.

Compensation

Pay range is $20.00–$25.00 per hour, based on experience and role assignment.

This position is eligible for event gratuities in addition to base pay when applicable.
