The role requires coordinating self-perform and subcontracted work, developing bid scope, and leading the estimating team to deliver comprehensive, well-structured bids.

The Lead Estimator will oversee takeoffs, vendor negotiations, and price breakouts, while maintaining organized proposal documentation

Qualifications

• Advanced project estimator skills including engineering calculations and nomenclature understanding.
• Experience preparing detailed conceptual cost estimates.
• Experience in writing and negotiating subcontracts.
• Knowledge of unit costs and factors affecting construction costs.
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the estimating team's takeoffs for self-perform and subcontracted work.
• Assemble complete estimate into a single bid document and number for bidding.
• Develop bid package scope after reviewing drawings and addenda.
• Attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope and contents of the estimate.
• Solicit pricing from vendors/subcontractors and prepare price breakouts.
• Maintain backup files and current supplier price information.
• Assist with computer work and discipline estimates as needed.
• Purchase orders and subcontracts related to awarded projects and ensure insurance requirements.
• Prepare internal job setup documentation and project organization materials.
• Participate in pre-job meetings with project management.
• Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to clarify scope and schedule.
