Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Patient Access Services, this position acts as a liaison between registration staff and their supervisor/manager. It reports progress and capabilities of personnel, provides direction to staff on day‑to‑day functions to ensure overall team operations run smoothly, assigns work, provides training on systems and registration functions, and assists in the development of policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Essential Knowledge / Skills

• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and non‑verbally.
• Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact diplomatically and maintain a professional demeanor with physicians, the public and hospital staff at all times.
• Ability to discuss personal and financial matters with patients and/or their representatives.
• Good problem solving and process efficiency skills.
• Knowledge of insurance benefits, covered services, billing, and collection procedures for all government and non‑government insurance programs and comical programs for acute facilities.
• General knowledge of office procedures and ability to utilize resource in an organized manner.
• Type 35-40 words per minute.
• Use of computer keyboard.
• Ability to use 10 key calculator.

Minimum Essential Experience

• One year experience in a hospital admitting or medical business office.
