We are seeking an experienced senior developer to join our Equity Flow Derivatives technology team, focused on our pricing and execution platform.
The role involves designing, building, and supporting applications used by the equity derivatives business. Our team owns critical front-office platforms spanning option pricing, request-for-quote workflows, derived data management, execution, and analytics capabilities.
In the Technology division, we leverage innovation to build the connections and capabilities that power our Firm, enabling our clients and colleagues to redefine markets and shape the future of our communities. This is a Lead Software Engineering position at the Vice President level, which is part of the job family responsible for developing and maintaining software solutions that support business needs.
This is a highly business-facing role. The successful candidate will work closely with traders, sales, and strats to understand workflows, identify pain points, and drive technology solutions that deliver measurable business value. The role requires regular engagement on the trading floor, building strong partnerships with stakeholders, shaping strategic initiatives, and leading projects from concept through delivery.
Proven track record leading complex technology projects and delivering business-critical solutions.
Strong system design and architecture skills.
Experience building resilient, fault-tolerant, and well-tested applications.
Understanding of cloud-based platforms and distributed systems.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work effectively across business and technology teams.
Experience gathering requirements, influencing strategy, and translating business needs into technical solutions.
Knowledge of equity derivatives products and pricing methodologies.
Experience working directly with sales, traders, strats, and quantitative teams.
Experience with reactive and event-driven architectures.
Understanding of authentication and authorization frameworks.
Experience with modern Java (21+).

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $155,000 and $215,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
