Job summary

Nammo Energetics is seeking a Mechanical Manufacturing Equipment Engineer to design, build, and improve automated production equipment in Perry, Florida. The role is onsite with some travel to Norway and involves planing projects, selecting tooling, and ensuring safety, quality, and throughput.

The candidate will collaborate with multiple teams, evaluate hydraulics/pneumatics systems, and translate requirements into reliable, maintainable equipment while supporting continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and 5 years work experience or 15 years work experience in equivalent position.
• Advanced 3D Design capability.
• Designing and maintaining automated assembly machines.
• Knowledge of hydraulics systems, drawings, hydraulic schematics.
• Knowledge of pneumatics systems, drawings, and schematics.
• Ability to interpret all types of mechanical, electrical and pneumatic drawings.
• Ability to follow projects through to completion.
• Ability to follow and understand basic PLC code.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute special projects, including design and fabrication of production equipment (automated and semi-automated assembly and secondary machines).
• Evaluate existing mechanical, electromechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems for improved yield and throughput.
• Develop mechanical/electromechanical fixtures and machines adhering to customer requirements.
• Collaborate with Quality and Process Engineers and other departments to write detailed scopes for procurement of new equipment.
• Assure system and product quality by confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
• Keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer’s instructions and procedures.
• Estimate tooling cost from design through fabrication.
• Coordinate with machine vendors through concept, design, fabrication, runoff and setup of equipment.
• Maintain adherence to company policies, safety and environmental standards.

Onsite in Perry, FL with occasional travel.Nammo Energetics (NEI) is the division of Nammo Group responsible for the establishment of a solid rocket motor manufacturing facility located in Perry, Florida adjacent to the existing Nammo Perry Inc facility. NEI will oversee the design, construction, qualification, and personnel staffing for the facility which targets initial production in 2027.The Design Engineer will assist in maintaining and troubleshooting issues with our automated and semi-automated equipment.
