Located in Byhalia, MS Sterilization Facility (X-ray Medical Devices) Jabil’s new state-of-the-art facility in Byhalia, Mississippi is a cutting-edge sterilization site dedicated to supporting the medical device industry through advanced X-ray sterilization technology. This site plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance of life-saving medical products. Equipped with innovative processing capabilities and a focus on operational excellence, the Byhalia facility strengthens Jabil’s global healthcare network by delivering fast, reliable, and scalable sterilization solutions. Team members at this site contribute directly to improving patient outcomes while working in a highly technical, quality-driven environment that emphasizes safety, precision, and continuous improvement.
The Lead EHS Engineer manages the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of a safe, accident-free, healthy work environment, compliant with all applicable H.S.E. regulations, company policies and procedures, and the safety statement ensuring safety objectives are implemented site-wide.
Excellent communication, presentation, organizational and training skills. Ability to interpret relevant legislation, and regulatory compliance procedures. Lead the company safety team where appropriate to continuously improve the company safety systems. Self-starter with demonstrated efficient work methods, analytical and problem solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment. Knowledge with any of the following skills is a plus: Manual Handling Instructor, Trained VDU Assessor, Current Safe Pass card. Actively promote and increase awareness and behaviors with regards to safe H&S practices including but not limited to staff communication sessions and other employee engagement forums. Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work with all levels within the organization and third parties. Competent in MS Office. Experience with industrial radiation / Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) training. Develops and implements general EHS policies and procedures to be followed by company personnel in compliance with local, state, regional, and nation regulations. Requires working knowledge of US-OSHA and EPA compliance requirements associated with manufacturing operations. Strong leadership skills with the ability to build working relationships with individual employees, site leaders, regional EHS team, and site contractors. The ability to prioritize tasks with a focus on completing tasks in a managed approach with attention to technical accuracy and within established timelines. Knowledge of incident investigations and root cause analysis. Familiar with new equipment introduction and validation processes; including, User defined criteria, FAT and SAT reviews, PSSR, and other steps to ensure the appropriate review and validation of equipment prior to site operation. Maintains safety files and records. May report to management on health and safety issues and concerns. Support EHS programs and initiatives. ISO 14001 Standard and system is preferred.
Education & Experience: A minimum of (5) years of experience working in a manufacturing environment. Preference given to candidates with education and/or training specific to EHS in a manufacturing environment. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate creativity in identifying solutions which balance supporting customer and operational goals along with ensuring EHS requirements are compliance.
