Job Description

Provides timely disinfection of hospital and outbuilding spaces. Will work in a COVID environment wearing proper personal protection when indicated. Will communicate with leaders, patients, family members, physicians, volunteers, and colleagues. Will work every other weekend and holiday.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, clean, and sanitary environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Perform a variety of departmental functions and tasks, including Technician I, Technician II, and Environmental Services Specialist responsibilities, according to established policies and procedures.
• Use safe work practices and follow regulatory compliance guidelines.
• Organize, coordinate, and lead environmental functions and activities of assigned personnel under the direction of the Environmental Services Manager.
• Coordinate with department Leadership and Logistics Center to meet organizational environmental needs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred. Ability to read and write required.
• Valid Michigan Driver's License preferred.

Minimum Skills and Experience

• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with hospital personnel, patients, and community groups.
• Leadership skills to motivate teams and resolve issues diplomatically.
• Ability to make decisions prioritizing safety.
• Proficiency in computer systems including Bed Tracking.
• Physical ability to bend, stoop, push, pull, lift heavy objects, and manage equipment up to 250 lbs.
• One year experience as an Environmental Services Tech II or Specialist at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland or similar experience in floor care and departmental equipment operation.
