Job summary

Hitachi Automotive Systems Americas, Inc. is seeking a Database Platforms Lead to define and govern the enterprise database platform strategy and architecture. Lead HA/DR, performance tuning, and security while driving automation and modernization across on-premises and cloud environments.

You will collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, security, and application teams, mentor DBAs, and evaluate new database technologies to optimize costs and resilience across the organization.

Qualifications

• Experience with major database platforms and cloud databases.
• Familiarity with automation, infrastructure-as-code, DevOps, and CI/CD practices.
• Experience leading database migrations, consolidations, or modernization programs.
• Background in database observability, monitoring, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Define strategy, architecture, and standards for enterprise database platforms.
• Oversee database operations, administration, monitoring, and support.
• Ensure high availability, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery capabilities.
• Manage performance tuning, capacity planning, and scalability.
• Define and enforce database security, access controls, and compliance requirements.
• Drive automation for provisioning, patching, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Support design, optimization, troubleshooting, and incident resolution.
• Lead upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives.
• Establish runbooks, procedures, and documentation.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, security, and network teams.
• Mentor and guide DBAs/engineers.
• Evaluate emerging database technologies and platform improvements.
• Monitor costs and resource utilization.
