Job summary

Elevance Health seeks a Distinguished AI Engineer to lead design, development and deployment of large-scale AI systems enabling enterprise-wide modernization. The role requires driving architected, scalable solutions with a focus on responsible AI, monitoring, and governance.

You will partner with engineering teams to adopt AI-assisted development, set technical standards and mentor others while delivering high-impact platforms across the organization.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 15 years of software engineering experience including leading, designing, implementing, and operating distributed systems and large-scale architectures.
• Experience with Python, Java, APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures, cloud, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Architect scalable, production-grade AI solutions using agentic systems, LLMs, distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
• Define enterprise-wide technical direction including architecture patterns, integration standards and reusable platform capabilities.
• Lead AI-driven modernization of legacy systems with automated code transformation, service decomposition, and continuous optimization.
• Design and implement AI-enabled SDLC practices to improve engineering velocity and quality.
• Establish technical standards, governance and best practices for AI systems, including monitoring and responsible AI.
