Job summary

Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc. in Farmington Hills, MI is seeking a Lead Engineering Technician to oversee harness rework activities and coordinate with SEWS technicians, EDS engineers, and customer teams.

You will drive testing and troubleshooting for vehicle programs, manage third-party rework teams, and support preproduction and production builds at customer sites. Travel is required for this role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Background in wire harness or automotive DC electrical troubleshooting and repair.
• 3+ years of experience in electrical engineering.
• Mechanic certification a plus or preferred.
• Travel required.

Responsibilities

• Lead harness reworks with SEWS technicians, SEWS EDS engineers, customer personnel, third parties, and rework teams; take on vehicle testing and troubleshooting; manage third-party teams to ensure proper rework.
• Provide engineering support for major issues/stop builds for all Mexico locations.
• Communicate effectively, manage time, and support day-to-day requests.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings and document/track reworks.
• Support preproduction and production build phases for harness reworks or repair at customer facilities.

JOB TITLE: Lead Engineering Technician

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead harness reworks with SEWS technicians, SEWS EDS engineers, customer personnel, 3rd parties, and /or El Paso, Texas Customer Service Center rework team.Take on additional responsibilities for vehicle testing and troubleshooting.Manage 3rd party rework teams to ensure reworks are being performed correctly.
• Provide engineering support for any major issues/stop builds for all Mexico manufacturing locations.
• Good communication, time management and interpersonal skills required, support day-to-day activities/customer requests.
• Participate/support cross functional team meetings/document/track reworks.
• Support preproduction and production build phases for harness reworks or repair at customer facilities.
