Job summary

Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc. in Marysville, OH, seeks an engineer to design and develop electrical wiring components for automotive applications.

The role focuses on product design with cross-functional interface to Quality, Cost, and Design teams, and requires CATIA/ES-CAD proficiency. The position is hybrid, requiring in-office presence at least three days a week with some off-site work, and ~10–15% travel within US and Mexico to support maturation activities and customer

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field (BSEE, BSME preferred).
• 3-5 years of design or product development experience, preferably in automotive wiring harness domain.
• CATIA or ES-CAD experience preferred.
• Team-oriented with good communication and self-motivation for challenging tasks.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Control/manage products from Quality, Cost, Design and Delivery scope to achieve targets through Product Design activity.
• Interface with customers on technical aspects of E-EDS Design; create 2D drawings in Catia-V5/V6 based program; ensure design accuracy.
• Countermeasure and troubleshoot electrical problems; meet targets through VA/VE investigations.
• Lead, coordinate, and participate in design reviews through vehicle development stages.
• Establish alternative solutions for design review results relating to specs, quality, and value targets.
• Support new business via application engineering of new technology and products.
• Investigate, coordinate, and implement design changes between customer and internal org.
• Create supporting docs for Design and present to customer and internal groups.
• Support testing specs to validate products for customer and market performance; assist scheduling and reporting of tests.
• Ten to fifteen percent travel within US and Mexico to support maturation activity.

Job description

SEWS—Ohio Customer Service Center (Marysville, OH).Although located at SEWS – Ohio Customer Service Center Office, this is a Hybrid position, which combines both in office and off-site work.Associates are required to work at least three days in the office each week, but also have the flexibility to work off-site.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Control/manage products from Quality, Cost, Design and Delivery scope to achieve defined targets through Product Design activity.
• Interface with customers on all technical aspects of E&EDS Design. Create 2D WH drawings in Customer’s Catia-V5/V6 based program. Responsible for Design Accuracy of Customer 2D drawing related to specs and guidelines.
• Countermeasure and troubleshoot electrical problems. Meet customer and internal cost targets through supporting VA/VE investigation.
• Lead, coordinate, and participate with design reviews to progress design through vehicle development stages.
• Establish alternative solutions/countermeasures for design review result as it relates to spec requirements, quality concerns, and value added targets.
• Support new business competition through application engineering of new technology, new products and other value added proposals.
• Investigate, coordinate, and implement design changes between customer and internal organization.
• Create supporting documents for Design and present to customer and internal groups.
• Support with creation of testing specifications to validate products to Customer and Market performance. Support with the scheduling, set-up, reporting and presenting of each test as it relates to test requirement.
• 10-15% travel required within US (regionally) and Mexico to support product maturation activity. Reasonable overtime required as it relates to customer’s design release schedule and urgent request.

QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENT:

• Bachelor's Degree required Engineering or related Technical field (BSEE, BSME preferred).
• 3-5 years Design and /or Product Development experience. Preferably, wire harness or related products in Automotive industry.
• CATIA or other ES-CAD system experience preferred
• Team oriented person with good communication skills and strong self-motivation for self-direction on challenging tasks.
• Proficient with Microsoft office
