Eversource is seeking a Lead Engineer in Massachusetts to lead the design, expansion, maintenance and operation of the transmission and distribution system. You will coordinate evaluation of failures, support operations during unplanned maintenance, and ensure high‑quality, safe, reliable electric service.
You will supervise engineers, collaborate to develop the Life Cycle Plan, and work with ISO‑NE on DER interconnects and interties. Travel to MA/CT/NH and occasional field work are possible.

Lead Engineer is responsible for the development, expansion, planning, design, maintenance and operation of the system and its equipment to meet the mission and objectives of the organization.
In addition, this position coordinates the evaluation of system failures, and the appropriate resolutions, to provide support to operations on unplanned maintenance.
Responsible for ensuring that the Eversource transmission and distribution systems are designed to high-quality standards that provide customers with safe, reliable, competitively priced, and environmentally sound electric service.
This position shares accountability with peers in the strategy, development, and design of the organization's Life Cycle Plan, a comprehensive long-term plan for the transmission/distribution system.
Responsible for supervising, assigning, prioritizing, and directing the work performed by other Engineers and staff.
Substation Engineering is responsible for working on substation design, maintenance, and support, optimizing the cost and performance of substation equipment on the transmission/distribution system.
Substation Engineering also supports emergent and/or equipment failures, as necessary, to support operations.
Additionally, this role would be working with ISO-NE on all Transmission level interconnects of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Solar Farms, and traditional generation requests.
Substation review for upgrades and replacements to allow for Distributed Energy Resource (DER) interconnects into the distribution system are also reviewed as part of this position.
Technical Knowledge/Skill: Knowledge of utility power systems is preferred. Ability to independently develop, present and execute new projects through collaborations with other departments. Familiarity with power related software is preferred.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required. Electrical Engineering degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum of eight (8) years in the technical, operational, or engineering aspects of the electrical utility industry. Supervisory experience preferred.
Licenses & Certifications: None.
Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required. Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary. Work is performed primarily in an office environment which requires sitting, standing, walking and climbing stairs are involved. Job can require traveling to operating districts and companies within and outside the state. Depending on the specific nature of the engineering role, position may require occasional to significant travel by car. A valid driver's license is required.

Salary is commensurate with your experience. This position is eligible for a potential incentive. The annual salary range for this position is: $145,670.00-$161,860.00
