Job summary

Baker Hughes is seeking a Lead Engineer, Mechanical, Product Design and Engineering to drive design, analysis and evaluation activities for product development. You will apply strong mechanical engineering principles and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions.

You will lead projects, coordinate multiple initiatives, and mentor teams while focusing on quality, reliability and manufacturability improvements across energy and industrial applications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 3 additional years in Mechanical Components engineering.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Execute design, analysis, and evaluation of projects per standards and requirements.
  • Apply mechanical/electrical engineering to support product development and performance.
  • Develop new engineering solutions independently or in teams.
  • Collaborate with SPB/EB leadership to align solutions with objectives.
  • Define project needs, communicate approaches, and present findings.
  • Deliver products through cross-functional teams and processes.
  • Lead analytical and design activities using established methods.

As a Lead Engineer, Mechanical, Product Design and Engineering, you are executing engineering design, analysis, and evaluation activities that support product development and business objectives. You are applying sound engineering principles to develop innovative solutions while collaborating with technical experts, business leaders, and cross-functional teams. You are driving engineering excellence through analytical problem-solving, technical leadership, and effective communication across the organization.


As a Lead Engineer, Mechanical, Product Design and Engineering, you are responsible for:



  • Executing the design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects while adhering to engineering standards, business practices, and product requirements.

  • Applying mechanical and/or electrical engineering principles to support product development, performance improvement, and technology advancement initiatives.

  • Developing new engineering solutions independently, under guidance, or as part of a collaborative engineering team.

  • Working closely with business leadership at SPB and EB levels to understand requirements and align engineering solutions with business objectives.

  • Defining project needs, communicating engineering approaches, and presenting technical findings and research outcomes.

  • Delivering products and technical solutions through participation in cross-functional teams.

  • Leading analytical and design activities using proven technologies, established methodologies, and engineering best practices.

  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, reliability, manufacturability, and operational performance.

  • Collaborating with engineering, operations, quality, manufacturing, and commercial teams to achieve project objectives and business goals.

To be successful in this role you will:



  • Have a bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in Engineering or Technology).

  • Have a minimum of 3 additional years of experience in Mechanical Components and engineering-related activities.

  • Have strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Have strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Have the ability to influence others and lead small teams.

  • Have experience leading initiatives of moderate scope and impact.

  • Have the ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.

  • Have effective problem identification and solution development skills.

  • Have proven analytical and organizational abilities.

The annual pay scale for this position is between $83,630.00 - $155,350.00. Candidates for this role (office-based/ hybrid/ remote) must be located in or near the locations displayed above.
