Job summary

Wabtec is seeking an Advanced Lead to drive the engineering design and validation of locomotive air compressors. You will lead design activities, validate concepts, and support field applications, sourcing, and manufacturing.

The role requires a BS in mechanical engineering with 5+ years in engineering, strong CAD/FEA skills, and excellent communication. Relocation assistance may be provided and a collaborative, outcome-oriented mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field
• Minimum 5 years engineering experience including 3 years in mechanical product design, selection and qualification
• Competent with engineering principles
• Reciprocating air compressor or related engine experience
• Knowledge of the rail industry, pneumatics, and/or hydraulics
• Experience with 3D CAD software (Siemens NX or CREO a plus)
• Experience with finite element analysis (Ansys a plus)
• Proficient with computers, MS Office software
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new products and improvements using engineering principles
• Prepare documentation for product development such as design requirements and validation plans
• Create 3D models and drawings using Siemens NX or CREO
• Perform failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA)
• Coordinate part procurement and assembly of engineering prototypes
• Plan, develop, and execute product validation test plans
• Analyze test data and generate test reports to verify performance, reliability, and safety
• Provide engineering support to manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and sales
• Create customer interface documents such as technical presentations, parts catalogs, and operation & maintenance manuals
• Write engineering change documentation and communicate significant issues clearly
