Our client is a super-intelligent finance platform, a real-time data transformer that turns messy streams (bank feeds, invoices, emails, API events) into perfectly structured records and investor-grade clarity.

Role Overview:
As a Lead Engineer, you would be the principal engineer of the project, acting as the technical governor, reviewing designs and code milestones hit on time, then when the project release you will act as the owner of the codebase, building new features, improving performance, and hiring the in-house team that follows you.

Key Responsibilities:

• Run weekly sprint reviews with Toptal, clear blockers quickly, and keep everyone on schedule.
• Ship clean features using TypeScript/Node.js, Next.js, and/or Python; refactor for speed and reliability.
• Integrate and fine-tune GPT-4 (and future models). Build retrieval pipelines so every answer cites real data.
• Enforce least-privileged IAM, encryption everywhere, and robust audit logging — no shortcuts.
• Write job specifications, hire within our time zone band, mentor engineers, and foster healthy remote work habits.
• Monitor logs, debug incidents, conduct blameless post-mortems, and maintain high uptime.

• 7+ years of experience building web software and 2+ years leading or mentoring engineers, ideally in fast-moving startups.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript (Node.js, Next.js) or Python — comfortable with other stacks.
• Familiarity with ML/AI libraries (Langchain, Hugging Face Transformers, etc.) and enthusiasm for deploying AI in production.
• Proven project management skills—scoping, planning, and delivering projects.
• Security-first mindset and habit of writing clean, testable code.
• Availability to work with a 4–6 hour overlap with New York time (UTC-4 or UTC-5, depending on daylight saving).
