Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated in Amarillo/Claude, TX is seeking a Lead Engineer for Data Center Facilities to oversee mission-critical operations and guide technical teams. The role emphasizes reliability, safety, and capacity planning for power, cooling, and networking infrastructure.

You will work with the Assistant Chief and Chief Engineer, develop maintenance programs, and manage incidents with 24x7 coverage. A PE license is preferred and visa sponsorship is not provided.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data center operations.
  • Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure: power, cooling, and network.
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE, TIA, Uptime Institute.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Proficiency with facility management software/building automation.
  • Valid certification in at least one area (CDCP/DCPRO).
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the management and coordination of data center facility operations and maintenance activities.
  • Supervising and mentoring technical staff, including engineers, technicians, and contractors.
  • Monitoring and analyzing critical systems performance, including power, cooling, and network infrastructure.
  • Developing and implementing preventive maintenance schedules and procedures.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with safety, security, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participating in capacity planning and infrastructure upgrade projects.
  • Responding to and managing critical incidents and emergency situations.
  • Preparing technical reports, documentation, and presentations for management and clients.
  • Be the first point of contact for service impacting events involving the electrical distribution system. Assist the team in troubleshooting and mitigating incidents.
  • Assist in the creation of root cause analysis (RCAs).
  • Be available for after-hours support regarding the electrical distribution systems. This includes 24x7 responses.

What this job involves

As a Lead Engineer for Data Center Facilities at JLL, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of mission-critical data center environments. Requirements

  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices (e.g., ASHRAE, TIA, Uptime Institute)
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Proficiency in using facility management software and building automation systems
  • Valid certification in at least one relevant area (e.g., CDCP, DCPRO, or equivalent)
  • Valid driver's license
Preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience with energy efficiency initiatives and sustainable data center practices
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies
  • Multi-site data center management experience
