Job summary

GE Vernova seeks a Lead Combustion Aerothermal Engineer to own the design, analysis, and optimization of DLN2.6e combustion systems. You will collaborate with global teams to deliver high-quality solutions, drive upgrades, and ensure safety and performance.

The role requires a strong technical ownership mindset, Lean-driven problem solving, and the ability to mentor engineers while navigating a fast-paced environment. Relocation is supported.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience in heat transfer or combustion.
  • Strong data analysis skills and proficiency with engineering software.

Responsibilities

  • Design & Analysis: aerothermal design and CFD analyses for gas turbine systems.
  • Technical Stewardship: own combustion flowpath design and validate operability and emissions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: work with multiple engineering teams to optimize subsystems.
  • Continuous Improvement: lead RCA, apply Lean principles, and drive process innovation.
  • Project Delivery: manage milestones and reviews per NPI practices.
  • Mentorship: coach team members and engage with key stakeholders.

As a Lead Combustion Aerothermal Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, analysis, and optimization of the DLN2.6e combustion system. You will collaborate with cross-functional, global teams to deliver high-quality solutions, drive product upgrades, and ensure our designs meet rigorous performance and safety standards. This role requires a balance of technical ownership, innovative problem-solving, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Job Description Key Responsibilities
  • Design & Analysis: Execute aerothermal design and analysis (1D Flow Models, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and emissions analysis) for gas turbine combustion systems.
  • Technical Stewardship: Take ownership of combustion flowpath design; perform validation testing; and evaluate designs for factors like operability, emissions and dynamics behaviors.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering experts, mechanical engineers, systems engineers, services engineering and applications engineering to optimize sub-systems and components.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead root cause analyses (RCA) to improve operability and design. Apply Lean principles to streamline processes and drive innovation.
  • Project Delivery: Manage milestones through formal/informal technical reviews, ensuring compliance with NPI processes and design practices.
  • Mentorship: Foster a collaborative environment by coaching team members and building strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Principal and Chief Engineers.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or a related STEM field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant engineering experience in heat transfer or combustion.

  • Advanced degree in Aerothermal Engineering or related discipline.
  • Technical proficiency in engineering software (Ansys, Fluent, StarCCM) and programming languages (Python, Excel VBA) for data analysis.

Compensation & Benefits

Relocation Assistance Provided: Yes

Pay range for this position is between $98,400.00 and $164,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
