Description

A Lead Engineer with Asplundh Engineering Services will lead a team or work on a team to complete engineering tasks and create custom engineering solutions to meet customer needs. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to adapt in a fast-paced and evolving industry. Tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating and reviewing Protection & Control settings designs
  • Event Analysis
  • Creating and reviewing HMI (Human-Machine Interface) settings
  • Creating and reviewing RTU settings designs
  • Designing and configuring operating characteristics of managed switches and LANs
  • Ensuring compliance with cyber security requirements based on industry best practices
  • Leading, planning, and coordinating projects with limited supervision
  • Delivering results based on client standards and requirements
  • Training and developing junior personnel
  • Leading project teams and interfacing with the customer to deliver quality products on schedule
  • Providing field support including troubleshooting, testing, and setup

An ideal candidate possesses strong leadership, organizational, and planning skills, with a detail-oriented approach and a strong sense of ownership over deliverables.

Education / Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in relay/protection engineering or related industry
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Programming knowledge or experience with protection relays and other substation equipment
  • Knowledge of engineering theory, practices, and procedures
  • Registered PE in Maine, Connecticut, and/or New York
  • IEC 61850/Goose experience is preferred
  • Experience in power protection, relay design, substation design, and telecom integration
  • Experience with relays and equipment such as SEL, GE, Beckwith, electromechanical relays, Ruggedcom switches, and Cimplicity HMIs
