Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated is seeking a senior facility engineer to lead technical operations across our Seattle site. You will oversee building systems, coordinate maintenance, and guide a team of engineers and technicians to ensure safe, reliable performance.

The role requires 7+ years in commercial or life sciences facility systems, strong HVAC, electrical and controls knowledge, and a proven ability to plan projects, manage contractors, and uphold safety standards.

Qualifications

• Broad knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, controls, utilities, and safe maintenance practices.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical work, troubleshoot complex systems, and communicate across teams.
• Supervisor/managerial experience preferred.
• Strong Customer Service skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and oversight for all building engineering operations, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant operation of facility infrastructure.
• Serve as the site’s senior engineering resource for troubleshooting and resolving complex HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and building system issues.
• Review, validate, and provide guidance on preventive maintenance activities, corrective maintenance work orders, repair strategies, shutdown plans, start-up procedures, and system recovery efforts.
• Conduct hands-on maintenance, repairs, and installations on HVAC, refrigeration, and building systems as required, particularly for complex or critical equipment.
• Review engineering work quality and ensure maintenance activities are executed in accordance with site procedures, manufacturer recommendations, safety requirements, and industry best practices.
• Train, mentor, and coach engineers and technicians to strengthen technical capability, improve troubleshooting skills, and enhance overall team effectiveness.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, work instructions, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides to support knowledge transfer and operational consistency.
• Coordinate daily technical priorities with the Hard Services Manager, engineering staff, contractors, vendors, and project teams to ensure efficient execution of maintenance and projects.
• Support planning and execution of facility projects, equipment replacements, commissioning activities, and operational improvements.
• Identify equipment reliability concerns, recurring failures, and operational risks; develop and implement corrective actions to improve system performance and uptime.
• Provide technical support during facility emergencies, critical equipment failures, investigations, and business continuity events.
• Manage and oversee refrigeration systems and programs, including maintenance, troubleshooting, compliance, and optimization activities.
• Assist with contractor oversight, vendor coordination, and project management activities to ensure work is completed safely, effectively, and in accordance with site standards.
• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with all applicable safety policies, procedures, regulations, and maintenance standards.

Education and Training

High school diploma or equivalent.

Years of relevant experience 7+ years of experience operating and maintaining commercial, industrial, or life sciences facility systems.

Skills and Knowledge

• Broad knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, controls, utilities, and safe maintenance practices.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical work, troubleshoot complex systems, and communicate across teams.

Certifications and Licenses

• Relevant trade license, technical degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience; life sciences or GMP experience preferred.

Physical Work Requirements and Conditions

• Lifting to 80 lbs.
• Working from heights.
• Frequently climbing, bending, lifting, kneeling, stooping, and working/extending overhead.
• Working in adverse conditions (i.e., extreme cold, extreme heat).
• Climbing a ladder with a 300 lb weight limit while carrying a tool bag.
• Climbing a ladder up to 30 feet.

Work Shift and On-Call Responsibilities

Work Shift: 10‑hour shifts, Monday–Thursday or Tuesday–Friday (6:00 AM – 4:30 PM); overtime as needed.

On‑Call Responsibilities: Employees are required to maintain on‑call availability on a rotating basis. When on call, employees scheduled on a Monday–Thursday shift will be required to work on‑site on Friday, and employees scheduled on a Tuesday–Friday shift will be required to work on‑site on Monday, in addition to their regular scheduled hours.

Compensation and Location

Expected compensation for this position: 79,000.00 – 120,000.00 USD per year. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.

Location: On‑site – North Seattle, WA.
