Job summary

PENN Entertainment in Arizona is seeking a facilities maintenance supervisor to lead the engineering team on shift, ensuring reliability of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems throughout our hotel/casino property.

The role requires 5+ years in maintenance in large properties, supervisory experience, and strong communication; you will mentor staff, enforce safety standards, and coordinate preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 5+ years facilities maintenance in a hotel/casino with 750+ rooms; or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 2+ years related experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of plumbing, electrical, electronic systems, HVAC, boilers, chillers, and related equipment.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to interact with guests and staff to resolve problems diplomatically.
  • Energetic, proactive, and collaborative; maintains confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Direct day-to-day activities of the Engineering department on an assigned shift.
  • Adhere to policies and guest service standards.
  • Maintain HVAC, piping, plumbing, boilers, and fire protection systems.
  • Install, repair, and maintain machinery and equipment to ensure operations.
  • Inspect kitchen machines and refrigeration equipment for performance.
  • Inspect and adjust HVAC equipment to maintain environment and comfort.
  • Repair plumbing fixtures, vents, and drains; ensure sanitation.
  • Perform minor electrical repairs and service electronic equipment.
  • Fabricate and maintain mechanical devices; painting, carpentry as needed.
  • Maintain shift logs and documentation.
  • Follow regulatory, departmental and company policies.
  • Install and maintain flooring surfaces as required.
  • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance.
  • Conduct ongoing training for shift personnel on equipment and maintenance.
  • Respond to building emergencies per procedures; know safety and reporting.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all company matters.

  • Responsible for directing the day-to-day activities of the Engineering department on an assigned shift.
  • Adheres to departmental and property policies and procedures regarding guest service standards.
  • Maintains engineering for HVAC, ductwork, piping, plumbing, boilers, and fire protection.
  • Installs machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous operations.
  • Inspects kitchen machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards; repairs refrigerator equipment as needed.
  • Inspects, repairs, and adjusts HVACequipment; ensures that building environmental and comfort standards are maintained.
  • Repairs, rods, cleans, adjusts, and removes plumbing fixtures, line vents, and/or drains as needed, to ensure proper operation and sanitation.
  • Makes minor electrical repairs, including but not limited to repair and replacement of outlets, light fixtures, and equipment; fixes all property electronic equipment (except for slot machines and computers) by repairing minor damage to parts and wiring and replacing failed components.
  • Fabricates, repairs, and maintains mechanical devices, motors, and pumps; performs painting, carpentry, and upholstery work as required.
  • Maintains all required logs and shift documentation.
  • Adheres to all regulatory, departmental, and company policies and procedures.
  • Installs and maintains all tile, marble floor materials, carpet, and carpet tiles.
  • Performs preventive maintenance to equipment on a scheduled basis.
  • Conducts continuing training programs for shift personnel concerning equipment, operation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Responds to building emergencies as per established procedures; responsible for knowledge of safety and emergency procedures and ensures that shift personnel have knowledge of same; promptly reports potential hazard areas.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in all company matters.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and minimum five (5) years of facilities maintenance experience in a hotel/casino with 750 or more rooms required; or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or closely related field and two (2) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum one (1) year of supervisory experience required.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be fluent and literate in English.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Must have thorough and in-depth knowledge of plumbing, electrical and electronic systems, mechanics, carpentry, painting, HVAC, welding, refrigeration, boilers, and chillers.
  • Ability to use all equipment associated with the position, including by not limited to basic hand and power tools, lathe, arc welder, electronic testing equipment, power sprayers, and power saws. - Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and perfect and to draw and interpret bar graphs. - Must have the ability to interact with guests, staff, and colleagues and resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members at all levels of the organization.
  • Previous experience with all aspects of maintenance and engineering (special emphasis on electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, and maintenance of all equipment).
  • Ability to maintain a high level of energy and take a proactive and strategic approach to dealing with issues.
