Honeywell Aerospace is seeking a Lead Certification Engineer to lead certification programs for gas turbine engines and power systems. You will mentor teams, interpret standards, and interface with FAA and partner entities to ensure on-time, compliant product approvals.
The role emphasizes developing certification strategies, coordinating technical reports, and driving process improvements to reduce cycle times while maintaining high quality across multiple propulsion programs.
The Engines and Power Systems (E&PS) Certification Office has a need for a Lead Certification Engineer to lead engineering teams through the certification process and TSO approval process on multiple propulsion engine and APU programs.
The preferred candidate will be highly motivated with demonstrated initiative, aerospace gas turbine engine and power generation systems product knowledge, and deep knowledge of product development methodologies within a regulated environment.
The focus of this role is certification and regulatory compliance of gas turbine engines, power generation systems, and associated components which includes experience with interpreting FAA regulations and how they are applied to product testing. Interact closely with project engineers, design teams, and internal and external regulatory authorities to meet project deliverables and milestones. Act with speed and accuracy for on-time execution and apply six sigma thought processes and tools. Listen to internal customers’ needs and support the team in reducing cycle time and improving the quality of deliverables.
Plan, execute, and lead certification programs
Mentor and train team members. Advise staff on process methodologies and procedures
Interpret product standard requirements and advise engineering teams on product design strategies to ensure compliance
Communicate with external government agencies and partnership companies about emerging technologies
Technical report development
Lead and manage the certification process for new engines and power systems products, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations
Develop and implement certification strategies and plans specific to the engines and power systems domain
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful certification of engines and power systems products
Stay updated with industry trends and regulations related to engines and power systems certification
Provide technical guidance and support to the team
Bachelor of Science in Engineering
Proficiently create, revise, and validate certification plans
Possess an understanding of SAE ARP 4754 requirements and best practices
Working knowledge of IBM Rational DOORS
Experience in certification of gas turbine engines and components
Demonstrate an advanced understanding of certification standards, processes, and requirements
Effectively conduct design reviews and complete action items in a timely manner
Strong organizational skills to help keep track of multiple tasks and priorities
Proficient technical report development and presentation skills
Effective interpersonal and team skills to resolve problems
Mindset to improve processes and reduce cycle time
