Job summary

Medical City Plano, part of HCA Healthcare, is hiring for a Lead EMT Transport Coordinator. The role encompasses coordinating inter/intra and third-party medical transports, patient movement, and collaboration with PLC facilities to meet patient care needs.

The Lead TCC will manage transfer center operations, coordinate emergent and elective transfers, and maintain professional communication with physicians and hospital staff to ensure timely patient placement and safety.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of clinical or hospital experience required, ED and acute hospital experience preferred.
  • EMS or Dispatch experience required.
  • Associate degree or higher preferred.
  • EMT Certificate and EMT Dispatcher certification required or approved equivalent.
  • Supervisory and call center/transfer center experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Functions as Lead Dispatcher and CDT agent when delegated.
  • Administers all aspects of the TCC department to meet organizational goals.
  • Assists in staffing and maintaining appropriate staffing levels and utilization of personnel.
  • Collaborates with the Nurse Manager and Manager of Operations to analyze and interpret operational data.
  • Performs transfer center functions including centralized patient placement and transfers.
  • Coordinates transfer of emergent, urgent and elective patients to final destination facilities.
  • Maintains professional, customer-centric communication with physicians and staff.
  • Triages and prioritizes patient information and communicates a clinical presentation for accepting clinicians.

This is a full time mid shift position, 11am-11pm.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The TCC Lead is responsible for the facilitation of medical transportation for all inter/intra and third-party resources including ground and air transfers, transport, and placement of patients for all HCA facilities within the markets served. The position collects clinical information relative to a patient movement requests and facilitates the patient's movement by matching the patient's clinical needs to the appropriate resource with capability. The Lead TCC will collaborate with other areas of the PLC and facilities regarding patient needs for medical transportation. This position will use customer service skills and professional communication standards to positively interact with peers, customers, and supervisors.

What you will do in this role:
  • Functions as both the Lead Dispatcher and CDT agent when delegated as such.
  • Provides administration of all aspects of the TCC department in order to ensure organizational mission and objectives are met.
  • Assists in hiring and maintaining appropriate staffing levels and utilization of personnel and ensure the highest quality of professional skill.
  • Works closely with the Assistant Nurse Manager and Manager of Operations to collect, correlate, analyze and interpret operational data to better support staffing and PLC needs.
  • Performs all transfer center functions, including centralized patient placement, in a timely, customer centered professional manner with the aid of a computer database consisting of facility service profiles, approved clinical protocols, established patient care protocols, and healthcare information.
  • Transports coordination specific to the transfer of patients and discharges from HCA facilities.
  • Coordinates transfer of emergent, urgent and elective patients to a final destination facility from all potential referral sources to include but not limited to hospitals, clinics, post-acute centers, and physician offices via a telephone call to initiate acceptance and expedite decision making relative to a potential transfer.
  • Works collaboratively with team members ensuring appropriate patient transportation.
  • Exhibits and models exceptional customer relationship behaviors, including telephone and personal contact with all of the call center' customer groups (i.e. physicians and their office staffs, callers, and fellow employees).
  • Maintains professionalism and customer-centric communication with challenging callers.
  • Demonstrates the ability to process patient acuity utilizing critical thinking skills, clinical decision making, and acquired knowledge to assist in assessing situations and facilitate patient flow through the continuum of care
  • Demonstrates the ability to triage and prioritize patient information and communicate an accurate clinical presentation of the patient for accepting physicians, nurses, and hospital administrators.
  • Knowledge of all state/federal regulatory requirements pertaining to ambulance transports
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with physicians and their offices to coordinate admission.
  • Knowledge of basic hospital services.
What requirements you will need:
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical or hospital experience required- highly preferred ED and acute hospital experience.

Must live within 60 miles of a Patient Logistics Center Facility -PLC Locations include; Madison, TN 37225, Richmond, VA 23225, Jacksonville, FL 32216, Tamarac, FL 33321, Plano, TX 75075 or Denver, CO 80237- Required
