Job summary

The Baltimore City Office of Emergency Management is seeking an Operations Section Chief for a non-benefit, contractual position. Candidates should have at least a bachelor’s degree in public administration, public policy, political science, public health, emergency management, planning, or a related field and a minimum of 3 years of experience in these areas.

They will possess excellent project management, analytical, communication (written and oral), organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public administration, public policy, political science, public health, emergency management, planning or related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in public policy/administration, public safety or emergency management.
• Analytical, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Work rotating shifts, including weekends, evenings and holidays, at office and incident scenes.
• Supervise Duty Officer Program and ensure staffing for on‑call shifts.
• Train staff in hazardous materials handling and emergency protocols.
• Receive weather warnings and take preparatory actions.
• Respond to major incidents and assist with triage and evacuation planning.
