Zone 5 Technologies in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, seeks an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to design, code, and test software for embedded devices in unmanned aircraft and flight test environments.

You will lead projects, integrate sensors and processors, read schematics, mentor teammates, and work with cross‑functional teams to deliver robust firmware under real‑time constraints using VxWorks or FreeRTOS.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, and test software for embedded devices and systems on unmanned aircraft and flight test environments.
• Integrate sensors and processors into aircraft (autopilots, payloads, radios) and test in flight.
• Lead in development and planning of new projects and programs.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and isolate software issues.
• Read schematics and use oscilloscope, logic analyzer, multimeter.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to deliver high‑quality systems.
• Mentor less‑senior teammates to help them grow.
