Job summary

Draper in Cambridge, MA, seeks an experienced Principal Embedded Software Engineer to develop high-performance software for resource-constrained targets across diverse domains such as undersea, terrestrial, air, hypersonics and space.

Responsibilities include design trade studies, algorithm implementation, testing, and documentation. Requires 10–15 years in software engineering and a bachelor’s in CS/CE/EE; Secret clearance preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE/EE and 10–15 years of software engineering experience.
• Experience developing embedded software for real-time systems.
• Ability to obtain/maintain government security clearance (Secret preferred).

Responsibilities

• Evaluate requirements and propose design solutions for complex embedded software.
• Develop algorithms and embedded code for resource-constrained targets.
• Write tests and documentation; mentor junior engineers.
• Identify risks and contribute to architecture and design decisions.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure timely delivery.
