Job summary

Abbott Laboratories is seeking a Sr Staff Embedded Software Engineer in Alameda, CA to lead development, verif ication, and validation of embedded bio wearable software. You will ensure FDA-compliant design controls and provide technical leadership across cross-functional teams.

You will mentor engineers, own C-based software components, and collaborate with QA and consultants to deliver high-quality products on schedule. Strong debugging and communication skills are required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or related field with extensive experience.
10+ years of embedded software development or 7+ years with a Master’s and related work.
FDA design control and medical device development experience is highly valued.
Strong C programming and low-level software skills required.
Excellent communication and mentoring abilities for cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Lead software development, verification, and validation for embedded bio wearable products.
Implement and ensure FDA-compliant design control procedures.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship for embedded software projects.
