Job summary

Sanner America, headquartered in Durham, NC, is seeking a Talented Principal Software Engineer with a background in embedded firmware to lead software projects for medical devices. You will guide architecture, implementation, and testing across the full development lifecycle, collaborating with customers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure high-quality outcomes.

The role focuses on class I/II devices, integration between firmware and application software, and advanced CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

BS in Engineering or equivalent technical degree.
12+ years relevant experience.
Experience developing embedded software for medical devices, preferred.
Proven ability to lead product development from concept to market release.
Proven track record of fully developing embedded software and architectures.

Responsibilities

Acts as technical lead for full product development lifecycle of medical devices (class I/II).
Designs, develops, and tests embedded firmware.
Leads software architecture and project execution.
Coordinates internal and external software teams and reviews.
Writes product requirements and conducts design and risk reviews.
Oversees verification, validation, and DHF maintenance.
Champions CI/CD, tools, and process improvements.
