Job summary

Bibb County Public Schools are seeking a Custodian (Head) for Carter Elementary School in Macon, GA. The role supports a safe, clean, and welcoming school environment and reports to the Principal/Custodian Coordinator.

The position requires supervisory experience, safety and custodial equipment skills, and the ability to fulfill physical duties across a 239-day work year with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or State Approved High School Equivalency.
• Four years of supervisory experience operating custodial equipment and completing Custodial Maintenance Program.
• Ability to fulfill physical requirements and train staff.

Responsibilities

• Operate electrical cleaning equipment during shifts.
• Safely use chemicals and cleaners per instructions and regulations.
• Open and secure assigned areas daily.
• Perform custodial tasks such as cleaning, washing windows, dusting furniture.
• Sanitize restrooms, kitchens and cafeterias.
• Perform heavy custodial tasks like mopping, stripping, waxing, floor buffing.
• Respond to emergencies to confine or resolve hazards.
• Move furniture and equipment as needed.
• Clean equipment and maintain storage areas.
• Report maintenance needs to supervisor.
• Perform routine maintenance on custodial equipment.
• Perform non-cleaning tasks such as changing bulbs and supplies.
• Work independently or with crew on major projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
