Job summary

A. O. Smith Corporation in Tennessee seeks a senior Lab Technician/Engineer to support and lead the Engineering team in evaluating, developing and testing new products.

You will train Lab Techs and work with Engineers to improve equipment performance and quality assurance. Candidates should have 7+ years in a lab setting or 10+ years with high school, and be proficient with testing boiler and water heater systems, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent with 7+ years of lab experience.
• Experience in a test lab environment and completing a major project.
• Experience testing boilers, water heaters, or gas appliances to standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide support and input to Engineering in development and testing of new products.
• Provide leadership and training for new Lab Techs.
• Direct at least two support personnel on project teams to review and process data.
• Set up, assist and test units per drawings to investigate design proposals and gather data.
• Observe and record results relevant to testing and evaluation.
• Log and distribute copies of results to Engineering and file.
• Ensure safe practices and professional appearance of the work area.
