Job summary

A.O. Smith Corp. is seeking a Lab Technician to support the Engineering team in evaluating, developing, and innovating new products. You will lead and train new lab technicians, and collaborate with engineers to test machinery and equipment.

Based in Lebanon, TN, this onsite role requires hands-on lab experience with boilers and water heating equipment, safety mindedness, and the ability to manage multiple projects while producing clear data and reports.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering or related field with 7+ years of related work experience preferred; in lieu of degree, 10+ years of related work experience and a HS diploma or GED.
• Experience in a test lab environment and completion of at least one major project from start to finish.
• Experience testing boilers, water heaters, pool heaters or other gas appliances to standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Work with Engineering to develop and test machinery and equipment; provide leadership and training for new Lab Techs.
• Set up, assist and test units per diagrams to investigate design proposals and improve equipment performance.
• Direct at least two support personnel on project teams to review data and ensure timely progress.
• Observe, record, and distribute test results to Engineering; maintain documentation and compliance with standards.
