Job summary

The City of Savannah is seeking a skilled journeyman-level technician to repair and maintain the city’s wastewater, water, and stormwater systems and related equipment. The ideal candidate will apply PLC and instrumentation knowledge, install and repair electrical panels, sensors and motors, and troubleshoot complex systems to ensure uninterrupted service.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, coordinating work, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in electronic technology or two years of vocational/technical training in Electronic, Instrumentation or Industrial Equipment Control.
• Two years of electronic control and instrumentation, testing and calibration, or mechanical/engineering municipal water operations experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and evaluates staff, directs work and conducts performance appraisals.
• Apply PLC and technical knowledge to install, repair and troubleshoot equipment and controls.
• Install, maintain and repair electrical wiring systems, panels, motors, and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical problems using meters, testers and schematics.
• Maintain records, prepare sketches, requisition supplies, and respond to emergencies.
