Job summary

General Motors is seeking an Advanced Electrified Propulsion Engineer in the United States to lead cross-functional teams in developing propulsion architectures for electrified vehicles. You will balance hardware requirements and drive optimization while coordinating with vehicle, battery, drive unit, and motor teams.

The role focuses on the Balanced Architecture phase and achieving performance and cost targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in product engineering.
• Ability to lead complex technical projects with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to take ambiguous problems and define a tangible approach.
• Strong creativity and latitude on challenging assignments.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, project management and negotiating skills.
• DFSS Black Belt.

Responsibilities

• Balance vehicle and propulsion system hardware requirements.
• Ensure requirements and hardware align with customer expectations across vehicle, battery, drive unit, and motor teams.
• Develop propulsion system to meet performance and cost targets with VDDV, Cost Engineering and Planning.
• Ensure analytical models, initial designs and controls of electrification systems have high fidelity.
• Lead component or system trade studies to meet range, performance, drive quality, and cost.
• Collaborate with SMTs, Vehicle teams, Planning, Finance, and Electrification leadership to complete ATW/BA gates.
• Benchmark automotive and other industries to identify innovative electrification tech.
• Document new ideas for invention board review and patent submissions.
