Job Description

The Lead Electrician for Nauvoo Historic Sites plays a vital role in maintaining and preserving the electrical systems that support the historic properties of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This position ensures the safe and efficient operation of electrical infrastructure while upholding the integrity of these sacred sites. Through expert maintenance, repair, and upgrades, the Electrician helps create an environment where visitors can experience the rich heritage and spiritual significance of Nauvoo.

Responsibilities
  1. Translate section-wide assignments into individual team member assignments, allowing for adaptation of goals and specific tasks to occur at the individual level within the scope of the assignment.
  2. Implement and manage a consistent process to regularly review team and individual performance, and counsel with team members on how to best make directional changes needed to achieve goals.
  3. Implement and manage applicable training programs and individual performance management goals that develop and utilize employees' talents and abilities in order to continuously improve team and individual performance.
  4. Create and manage production schedules and assign work orders.
  5. Monitor and manage approved operational budgets.
  6. Purchase materials, select tools and manpower, and oversee assigned jobs. Perform follow-up to ensure completeness and quality of finished jobs.
  7. Scope, design, engineer new and existing installations to minimize waste and maximize efficiency. Install conduit, wire, and devices uniformly, avoiding unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, in accordance with specifications and codes.
  8. Estimate labor and material costs based on descriptions, drawings, and work plans.
  9. Troubleshoot and repair complex commercial and industrial electrical systems.
  10. Provide preventive maintenance support for all existing building systems, including generators, transfer switches, UPS's, VFD's, and emergency lighting systems.
  11. Prepare sketches and drawings showing wiring and equipment locations or follow schematics and blueprints. Coordinate activities with other crafts to minimize disruptions during construction or remodeling.
  12. Perform inventory management and maintain shop equipment.
  13. Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  1. Significant leadership skills and ability to effectively manage and develop employees.
  2. Post-journeyman professional experience in the field.
  3. Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office and company-specific programs.
  4. Current licensure as a Commercial Master or Journeyman electrician, with the ability to obtain one in Illinois.
  5. Valid driver's license.
  6. May require DOT certification and BICSI certification.
  7. Ability to distinguish colors.
  8. Ability to work safely from ladders, scaffolds, lifts, and high locations for extended periods.
  9. Good eye-hand-foot coordination and controlled hand movements.
  10. Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, push, and pull for extended periods.
  11. Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly and team lift objects up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  12. Ability to fit into tight spaces such as attics and crawl spaces.
  13. At least 20/40 vision with or without correction, and at least 120 degrees of horizontal peripheral vision.
