Job summary

UL Solutions in Northbrook, IL is seeking a Laboratory Engineer to set up, conduct, and document laboratory tests per established procedures, standards, and customer requirements. You will examine samples, interpret engineering drawings and wiring diagrams, and help build, modify, and maintain test setups to support multiple testing programs.

Qualifications

• University Degree in Engineering (in related field) and 4 years Work Experience.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects with high quality and customer service.
• Proven ability to partner with Engineering and other Laboratory Personnel to complete projects on time.
• Ability to analyze special testing needs.
• Ability to coach and mentor more junior laboratory staff.

Responsibilities

• Set up, conduct, and document laboratory tests in accordance with established procedures, standards, and customer requirements.
• Examine test samples and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical instructions.
• Build, modify, and maintain test setups and laboratory equipment to support a variety of testing programs.
• Operate specialized laboratory equipment and perform routine maintenance of testing systems and work areas.
• Collaborate with engineers, laboratory personnel, and customers to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely test execution.
• Collect and record test data, prepare reports and documentation, and clearly communicate technical findings.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve laboratory processes, efficiency, and automation.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and professional laboratory environment while following all safety procedures.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
