Job summary

Qnity is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation Maintenance and Reliability Engineer to act as the technical authority for electrical systems at the Newark facility. You will lead maintenance programs, reliability initiatives, and safety standards while guiding upgrades to aging infrastructure.

The role requires a PE license or electrical engineering degree, 5+ years of industrial experience, and CMMS proficiency.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or PE license in Delaware in lieu of degree.
5+ years of industrial electrical engineering, maintenance, or reliability experience.
Knowledge of power distribution systems and instrumentation troubleshooting.
Familiarity with CMMS systems (SAP and MaintainX).

Responsibilities

Maintenance Engineering: support instrumentation and electrical infrastructure troubleshooting.
Specify replacements for obsolete equipment and standardize future purchases.
Support incident investigations and RCFA.
Own and update interlock testing procedures.
Reliability Engineering: establish electrical maintenance programs for switchgear, PMs, infrared inspections, motor testing, and protective device testing.
Develop long-term strategies to replace aging electrical equipment (20+ years) including switchgear, transformers, and MCCs.
Lead reliability improvement efforts using RCFA and performance monitoring.
Lead site backup power strategy, including defining critical loads and evaluating cost-effective solutions such as generators and UPS systems.
Electrical Safety & Standards: develop and update site electrical safety standards; define PPE and safe work practices.
Establish equipment safety standards including finger-safe designs and UL-listed components; manage arc flash compliance.
Ensure proper electrical system design, load management, and long-term distribution planning.
